I am the Founder and CEO of the Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America. I am married to Dr. James Namnath and we have raised six beautiful children between us. For the past sixteen years I have dedicated my professional life to my software company, Recruitware, Inc., until May 18th, 2009 when I had Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery. That day changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined.
At the time of my surgery I was 48 years old, 303 pounds and suffering from Pickwickian syndrome, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and loss of mobility. All of those health problems are gone now and I am enjoying life again!
As I enjoyed the benefits of my weight loss surgery, I became increasingly concerned for people who were not able to have WLS for financial reasons.
One of my favorite quotes is “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”.
There is a real need for help in getting both Weight Loss Surgery and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery. The Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America was born out of need, respect and compassion for people who for no fault of their own remain trapped in their morbidly obese lives with no real hope for help or change.
I am blessed by a renewed energy for life because of my improved health and my drive to build this foundation into a respected institution that will far out live myself. I can’t adequately express the gift this is to me but I am very moved that people in the WLS community and people who care about us are also motivated by the same vision.
