Frank presents LIPO's BIG Check in Las Vegas!

The WLSFA has a fiscal year from July – June. That is fairly typical for non profits not to use the calendar year. In any case it is this time of year our CPA counts all the beans and let us know how we did in terms of fundraising. As I reflect on this past year, I am proud of what our foundation has accomplished. I always want more, I always push for our board to think big, share the big picture and vision that was the reason we started the WLSFA. As we grow our Chapter program this coming year the true vision of a national network of care across the united states will begin to take focus. Pilot chapters are already meeting and raising funds that will in time fund grants in their neighborhood, with their doctors. Give local, Help local it is our future!

Last Fiscal year July 2010 – June 2011 we raised enough funds for Connie Baileys Full Grant!

In this fiscal year July 2011 – June 2012 we raised enough funds the following:
September 27,2011: Funded Inaugural Grant for Reconstructive Plastic Surgery – Ms. Sarah Halbrook Phoenix AZ
October 27,2011: Funded Second Weight Loss Surgery Grant – Mr. Jose Vedro FL
November 11,2011: Funded Third Weight Loss Surgery Grant – Mrs. Kimberly Grimes Plano TX
December 27,2011: Funded Fourth Weight Loss Surgery Grant – Mrs. Sheila Renda Springs Archer FL
February 16, 2012: Funded Fifth Weight Loss Surgery Full Grant – Mr. Darren King Salt Lake City UT
May 18, 2012: Funded Sixth Weight Loss Surgery Full Grant for Ms.Mandy Gray Klamath Falls OR

As we start our third Fiscal year on July 1, 2012 as an organization we have much to be proud of and much hard work to do. We have added additional fundraisers I hope you will all get involved in. If not as donors, then as cheer leaders and help us spread the word!

All of our sponsors are listed HERE I will close with a few pictures of our sponsors during the event. I just want to keep saying thank you, thank you, thank you. There are no words to explain my gratitude for your organization. You are going to give me my sister back. Give Mandy her life back. Give her children someone who my sister and I never had… a mother who was able to do things with her kids. That right there is worth everything. Again, I am beyond grateful and I pray that others will see the amazing and noble mission you are on. You are changing lives, one grant at a time. 🙂

Our community is amazing and together we are grateful to be able to help Mandy and hopefully many more. The hardest part for myself, is trying to make people that are not part of our WLS community care about our mission. The bias against obesity is so strong, so pervasive that many do not want to associate them selves to our cause because they are brainwashed into thinking the medical treatments for obesity are somehow a bad thing, when WE KNOW how life saving it is! We must all speak out in unison, together we can be heard and hopefully help remove some of the stigma one grant and day at a time. I look forward to the day Mandy walks in health and dances with us with ease.
