On October 28th the WLSFA Board of Directors approved funding of a grant for weight loss surgery for Ronda Bauwens of Lenexa, Kansas. Ronda will have surgery with Dr. Gerald Brice Hamilton of the Bariatric Center of Kansas City http://www.kcbariatric.com Ronda had worked tirelessly for several years to obtain the funds needed for surgery. After the passing of both parents to the disease of obesity, Ronda’s fight intensified. Ronda has never given up, even in the face of extreme loss where many would have given up all hope. We are thrilled to be able to help Ronda realize her dream of regaining her health and changing her life path. We are proud of Ronda’s determination and look forward to her journey and role as Ambassador for the WLSFA.”~ Antonia Namnath CEO and Founder of the WLSFA

In Ronda’s own words:
“After seeing my Parents struggle with obesity for years with an end result in their death last November and December, I then realized I MUST do something! I was following in the same path as them and after several diets that failed, I knew I couldn’t lose the weight on my own nor the battle. I have tried for the past three years to get the funds for weight loss surgery and like many, my insurance didn’t cover it. Thanks to the WLSFA, I can now live a healthier more vibrant life, one my parents would have wanted me to live.”- Ronda Bauwens
